The 5,770 acre preserve is at the highest point along the Shawangunk
Ridge and is home to globally rare plants and animals.
The Preserve is open from 8 am until 8 pm daily.
The Conservation Center is open from 9 am until 5 pm, Tuesday
through Sunday.
Please bring sunscreen, sunglasses, plenty of water, rain gear,
a map, a compass, comfortable hiking boots, a day pack and a
camera when hiking here.

There are 2 parking lots on Rt.44/55. Arrive on by 10 am to park
on the upper parking lot by the lake. Minnewaska State Park is
situated in Ulster County on the dramatic Shawangunk Mountain
ridge that rises more than 2,000 feet above sea level. The terrain
is rugged and rocky, blanketed by dense hardwood forest encircling
two lakes. Clear streams cut into valleys, incising sheer cliffs
and ledges and emerging in waterfalls. Hiking, biking, horseback
riding and cross-country skiing are very popular activities.
Visitors also enjoy swimming, picnicking, boating and marveling
at the scenery.
- Mohonk Preserve
Mohonk Preserve is situated in Ulster County on the dramatic
Shawangunk Mountain ridge.
On 6,500 acres, with well kept trails, and an enthusiastic and
helpful staff to greet you at their Visitor’s Center on

Nat'l Historic Landmark District. Collection of house museums
built between 1692 and 1890 with heirloom and period furniture.
